2nd Summer Solstice

DSC_6007The Replacement Service are happy to announce the return of Summer Solstice 2015! With only 5 weeks to go, TRS on behalf of St Richard’s Hospice are running the 2nd event at Shelsley Walsh Hill Climb on Saturday 20th June.

TRS started the event last year and due to the huge support and interest, it has continued to grow with a huge backing from Worcestershire and beyond. This unique opportunity allows the public to drive the famous course, following in the same tracks as legends such as Sir Stirling Moss and many others. The day is already promising a wide variety of classic and sporting vehicles, with a mix of some more modern models and a surprise unveiling of the newest and most exciting motorsport in the world, All Surface Racing.

‘ASR’ is supported by TRS and famous professionals such as Randy Mamola, in introducing 16-18 year olds into the motoring industry. To see a full profile of supporters and the promotion video, visit https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uX8s5xll4jU

The 2nd Summer Solstice also celebrates fantastic local businesses who will be attending, with a mixture of photography, art and motoring. All members of the public are invited to this family event, where one can enjoy local bands, a selection of food and a glass of Pimms at the bar! We look forward to welcoming everyone on the 20th and donating more money to this brilliant charity.

Summer Solstice Success

On the glorious morning of Saturday 21st June, car enthusiasts gathered at Shelsley Walsh for our 1st Open Hill Climb Event. A combination of beautiful , classic vehicles and some very fast specials experienced the unique opportunity of driving the famous course and Alvis, Austin, Bentley, BMW, Jensen, Lotus, Mercedes, Porshe, Rolls Royce, Triumph were amongst some of the marques that were displayed in all their glory and full to the brim of friends and family in cavalcades up the hill.

With the luck of weather on our side, the day continued to draw in crowds right into the afternoon. Marking the longest day of the year and beginning of summer, the BBQ grills were lit up serving some lovely food, Pimms were accompanied with strawberries and mint and the 5 piece Jazz Band created a relaxing atmosphere in the courtyard. This was in contrast the vibrant, loud noises coming from the pits. Whilst the clear British sun lapped at the tyres of vintage cars, across the paddock into the orchard a wonderful driving experience could be found, Steve Gardner and his Rebel Replicas gave children the thrill of driving a scaled version of Land Rovers.
Exclamations such as “excellent” “brilliant” “thank you so much book me in for next year” and “do we have to stop” accompanied over doses of smiles!Yes we will be holding the event again next year so as places are limited book your place for up to 9 runs asap.

We would like to say a big thank you for all of those who supported this event and the money raised for St Richard’s Hospice. A huge thank you to all sponsors; Ologic, RH Insurance, Startin Honda, The Bridge at Stanford, Red5 Print and Design and Magic Car Pics, and of course The Replacement Service . A thank you to Shelsley Walsh for hosting the event and all staff that contributed to making the day run smoothly, we will see you all next year.

As Many of cars are heading over to Le Mans for the Classic 24 Hour Race we wish all a very safe journey and look forward to hearing about it soon.
