Thursday 26th November saw over 300 claims professionals attend the 3rd I Love Claims Home Conference at the Ricoh Arena, Coventry which focused upon ‘The Future of Home Claims, Tomorrow and After: Are we really ready?’.
The morning offered networking and delegates to mooch around the exhibition stands in the hall. Following the introductions from Alan Soutar, the challenges and issues occuring today and in the near future were addressed and discuss by Rob Smale of Ageas, Gordon Vater of RiiG and Jeremy Hyams of Claims Consortium Group. Much of this group discussion and questions posed surrounded current and emerging technologies and what best suits the customers. Another hot topic was the lack of new talent in the industry and how to introduce young professionals into claims.
Presentations from Tom Stephens of LV=, Jeremy Sykes of Polygon, Mike Steel from the environmental agency and Phil McNeilage of Cunningham Lindsey looked at whether we are ready for surge and how each of these companies have been and are preparing. Late morning viewed customers expectations in dealing with domestic buildings claims with expert knowledge and insight from Geoff Ball of Claims Consortium, Paul Hayman of MA Assist, Chris Brown of BVS and Lynne Johnson of Aviva.
After lunch and more networking, the afternoon addressed issues of lack of talent and the apprenticeship academy set up by Aviva and L&G, initiated from last years I Love Claims conference. Named the ‘Insurance Industry National Apprenticeship Academy’ encourages companies within the industry to join the movement. Oliver McGuinness of Innovation Group, Paul Sell of Aviva, Dan White of Ninety Consultancy and Jon Carter of Deutsche Telekom looked at the Connected Home, the current offerings in the market and how this can mitigate risks against fire, flood and burglary.
The conference ended with everyone reflecting on the topics which were discussed, had we learnt anything and what was to be taken away. TRS would like to thank I Love Claims for another great event and inviting us back for the 3rd year. See you next year!
